A minute of silence took place at the opening of the European Parliament's plenary session today, to remember the victims of the brutal repression in Syria – and in Homs in particular – and to send a strong symbolic message to the murderous regime in Syria.

The Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament fully support the Arab's League proposal to deploy a joint UN/Arab peacekeeping mission in Syria and invite the Security Council to immediately adopt a resolution to this effect.
