Re-strengthening global sisterhood - Emerging women’s issues for a new global agenda

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 - 22:00 to Thursday, October 20, 2011 - 22:00

After meetings in Boston and Paris, this year it is the third time that experts from Europe and North-America meet for the promotion of equal rights for women and men. This event is run with the support of the Fondation Jean Jaurès and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

These meetings have provided a unique opportunity for discussion amongst European and North-American experts, and facilitated the development of new initiatives for promoting gender equality, useful both for academics and policy-makers.

This year’s seminar will focus on two main issues:

Outsourcing gender equality issues to the global market – Female migrant care workers

The discussants will debate about the issues concerning the global care chain and possible solutions from the left.

Progressive political parties and feminism

This round table aims - amongst other issues - to find progressive policy suggestions to advance women’s rights and liberties in the context of the revival of the traditionalist agenda.
