The Parliamentary Group of the Italian Democratic Party, in cooperation with Global Progress and the Progressive Parliamentary Network, held the 2nd progressive parliamentary leaders’  conference “Rewrite the world: events are global, progressives too” in Rome on 19-20 April 2012.

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and the Global Progressive Forum (GPF) launched the Next Left Economic Circle in September 2011. The Next Left Economic Circle roundtables intend to gather progressive economists from European institutions, civil society organisations and private businesses insisting on the need to assess the theoretical bases underlying economic policy proposals.

HANNES SWOBODA: POSITIVE TALKS ON FUTURE CO-OPERATION BETWEEN THE EU AND MOROCCO

On the anniversary of the reform movement – launched in Morocco on 20 February exactly one year ago – Hannes Swoboda, Leader of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, visited the country to discuss future co-operation.  He met today with a series of high-level politicians in the country, including Morocco's Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and advisors to the King.

Commenting on the outcome of his talks, S&D Group Leader Hannes Swoboda said:

EU must support regional efforts to preserve Senegalese democracy

In the run-up to the Senegalese Presidential elections, a European delegation has been in Dakar and surrounding towns for seminars on comparative economic models and the linkage with democratic discourse. The delegation, composed of representatives from the Global Progressive Forum, the Foundation for European Progressive Studies and the Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament, was also afforded an opportunity to follow the election campaign at close quarters.
